Before we get started, we should tell you that, yes, we are twins. This fact can get pretty tricky, since customers confuse us all the time. Yet, being best friends for over 50 years, the pros heavily outweigh the cons.
In 2009, we were both working at a local retail store when we saw that a long-standing store, Butterfield’s, was closing. The store was housed in a blue house, originally built in the 1800s as a harness shop, and located at the intersection of two heavily traveled roads. We had always toyed with the idea of owning our own business, and couldn’t pass up such a perfect opportunity. Living in the Highland area for so long, we also recognized that the 108 & 216 intersection needed a one-stop gift and clothing shop.
With the help of family and friends, we cleaned up the space, repainted, and got ready for our grand opening in September of 2009. Immediately we had amazing and loyal customers, that helped spread the word about our store. We are grateful to our customers for voting us "Best Boutique in Howard County" in 2011, 2012, and 2013.
One thing we love about Serendipity is that a customer can really find a gift for any occasion, whether a gift for a bridal shower, a birthday, Christmas, or graduation. There’s also something for those in need of retail therapy, as the upstairs is full of clothes for infants, teens, and adults.
We hope you enjoy Serendipity as much as we do!
